We use many different facial expressions every day and each time we do this, our muscles stretch and pull our skin to create frowns and smiles and the look of surprise. Our skin becomes thinner as we age, as the natural collagen our body produces breaks down. As this happens deep creases and lines form in your skin; injectable dermal fillers can help with this, restoring former volume to the skin.
What Are Injectable Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are natural products that are injected into areas of the body (often around the face/lips and nose) to increase the volume in the area
What About The Results?
Dermal fillers can be used to help with a wide range of concerns that you may have, such as diminishing volume in the skin of the face, wrinkles on the neck and face, signs of ageing on the décolletage and they can also be used to enhance the shape and volume of your lips.
How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
At Māyura Medispa, we use Hyaluronic Acid which will be injected into the skin using an ultra-thin needle to minimise discomfort. Hyaluronic Acid is produced by our skin cells naturally, it works by attracting water which in turn restores volume and hydration to the skin.

What Can I Expect to Happen at My Session?
You will have a face-to-face consult with Dr Kumar or our medical injector. Our experts will determine if a dermal filler is the correct treatment for you and discuss this and the alternates with you. Our skin specialist will apply a localised anaesthetic to numb the area where the dermal filler is to be injected, to minimise discomfort. Most fillers nowadays come pre-mixed with a local anaesthetic, so after the initial injection the area quickly becomes numb and thus causes little to minimal pain. You can expect these sessions to take about 20 to 30 minutes.
What about the Recovery?
With dermal fillers there is little downtime and due to this you will be able to resume your normal activities as quickly as possible. Some bruising particularly in the first week is common. Dr Kumar will discuss all post-operative instructions with you prior to treatment and after treatment is completed.
How Do I Begin?
At Māyura Medispa, before we begin any type of treatment, we will need to organise a consultation for you with Dr Kumar. He will assess your skin and discuss with you the treatment that you are interested in and the results you wish to achieve.
